The Writing Machine 1 is more than a writing instrument—it is a companion for those who still believe writing should feel meaningful. Crafted from C46400 naval brass and African red mahogany, it is weighted with care, polished by hand, and designed to bring back the joy and presence that writing once carried at an affordable price point.
Every detail has been considered: the modified fountain nib, the frictionless ink flow, the subtle balance in the hand. Together, they create a writing experience that is deliberate, elegant, and quietly powerful. This isn’t a pen for distraction or speed—it’s for focus, reflection, and creative ritual.
Whether you use it for journaling, drafting, or deep written work, the WM-1 is built to return passion to the page. It is a serious tool, but also a lifelong companion—crafted to be used, kept, and returned to for years to come.
Design Process
We began with an existing form from a pen maker—great potential in structure, but limited in soul. From there, we reworked every element of the pen. We rebuilt the entire pen from ground up. The base alloy was upgraded to high-alloy C46400 naval brass for added weight and durability. The body was replaced with genuine African red mahogany—heavier, warmer, more tactile. The inner barrel was remade for greater balance and weight distribution.
The ink system was fully re-engineered for smoother, more deliberate flow. A pensmith was brought in to hand-polish and modify the fountain nib for writing smoothness and precision. We then added a custom vacuum filling system, typically used on high end fountain pens, for faster, cleaner refills.
What resulted is an incredible writing instrument, entirely reimagined to serve a deeper writing experience.
