The Empirical Red Book

The Empirical Red Book

Meet The Empirical Journal

A companion designed not just to hold words, but guard deep introspection and shape thought.

“Where thinking is allowed the space to become something more.”

Red → symbolises the act of facing yourself with clarity and with courage.

Design Philosophy

The Empirical Journal was designed to restore weight to the act of writing. Inspired by Carl Jung’s Red Book, it was built not as a tool for productivity, but as a space for interior depth. We began with a question: why don’t most people journal? The answer was in the tools. Most notebooks are too generic, too flimsy, too forgettable. We set out to create something else—something intentional. The cover is made of textured red vegan leather, chosen for its feel, presence, and durability. Inside, you’ll find archival-grade cream paper designed to resist bleed and preserve every line for years to come. Each page is laid out with refined structure: subtle date markers, generous margins, and a layout that supports thought without dictating it. The Empirical Journal exists to give form to thought—and meaning to the quiet act of putting pen to paper.

Designed For Legacy

The Empirical Journal was created as an object of permanence. Bound in textured vegan leather and finished with a custom metal bookmark stopper, it’s designed to look and feel like a piece of your legacy—not something you forget on a shelf. From the cover to the weight in your hand, everything about it was made to be returned to.

Thoughtfully Crafted

Each page is printed on thick, archival-grade paper—chosen to preserve your words, resist bleed, and hold up over time. Subtle formatting and generous spacing offer quiet structure without restriction. This isn’t a space to scribble. It’s a space to think.

Made For Thinkers

Most journals feel disposable—and that’s why many never begin. The Empirical Journal was designed to change that. Created as a premium object, it’s priced to be used—not preserved in shrink wrap. This is a journal for those who take their thoughts seriously, but want a place to begin without hesitation. Accessible, durable, and made to be returned to. A tool for reflection, for exploration, and for legacy.

What is the Empirical Journal made of? + -

The journal is made of incredible quality, wrapped in richly textured vegan leather, chosen for its durability and tactile quality. It features a built-in metal stopper to protect the edge and enhance its physical presence.

How is the journal built? + -

The Empirical Journal is designed for reflective use. It lies flat when open, making it comfortable for long writing sessions. Inspired by Carl Jung’s Red Book, it’s made to be a private space for psychological depth—unfiltered, untimed, and unperformed.

Does it have lines or structure inside? + -

Yes—but only what’s necessary. Each page includes discreet lines and small spaces for the day and date. There are no prompts, quotes, or interruptions—just enough form to orient you, without telling you what to think.

Why vegan leather? + -

The cover uses premium-grade vegan leather to ensure durability while remaining cruelty-free. Its grain is pronounced and physical, giving the book the presence of a much older, more serious object.

What kind of paper is used? + -

Thick, archival paper, 120 gsm, cream-toned with a smooth finish and light tooth. It handles fountain pens, gel ink, and pencil with minimal bleed-through.

How many pages are there? + -

The journal contains 160 lined pages—enough for depth, without feeling overwhelming.

Can it lay flat? + -

Yes. It’s lay-flat bound, which means it opens easily and stays open on the desk—allowing for an uninterrupted writing experience.

Is this just a notebook? + -

No. It’s a tool. One designed for clarity, self-confrontation, and legacy. It’s not made to look pretty on a shelf. It’s made to be filled.
